The goal of the educational programs in civil engineering is to produce graduates who are schooled in fundamentals and capable of doing advanced engineering work. The major areas of the program are construction engineering and management, environmental engineering and water resource management, solid mechanics, structural engineering, transportation engineering, civil engineering materials, and systems engineering.

The courses are a mixture of laboratory studies, applied mathematics, engineering analysis, engineering design, and a variety of introductory and advanced level courses in various areas of applied science and engineering management. The Civil Engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET.
