Vigil on Campus with University President Father David O'Connell on Sept. 11, 2001
President Garvey issued the following statement on 9/11 Anniversary:
This Sunday our nation will mark the 15th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. The events of that day – and their effects – have directly affected our University community. In many ways, the state of the world is more complex than it was then. Civilian life, diplomatic relations, religious and ideological divisions, and military engagements have each developed in unforeseen ways. In the face of such complexity we at The Catholic University of America should remain steadfast in our commitment to education aimed at serving our nation through research and teaching, which strengthens the common good, protects the dignity of every human life, and preserves our most cherished freedoms.
