Staff Member Uses God-given Tools to Help
|CUA staffer Jim Battle (right) with Rev. Jerry Trancone and the new stove at the Center for Deaf Ministries.|
Name: Jim Battle
Title: Assistant director of facilities, maintenance, and operations
Service: Replaced dishwasher and redid plumbing
Where: Center for Deaf Ministries of the Archdiocese of Washington, Landover Hills, Md.
Why: " It all began with my catering the center’s Annual Thank You Party, and now I’m in my 15th year. Father Jerry Trancone, director of the center, found out I am a jack-of-many trades; I have cooked numerous meals, opened locked safes, replaced a kitchen stove from residential to commercial, and now the latest — replaced the 1956 dish sanitizer with a 2011 dishwasher!
"For them, it saves money; for me, it is a great sense of satisfaction that I can use my God-given tools to help the Church."
